I just purchased a Bandit 17 as a winter project. I have a question as to the side shouds and forstay. How are they attached to the U shaped mounting locations. The ends of the side stays and forstay is just finished off with a thimble with a crimped fitting holding it. Is this the way it should be or has it been modified over the years. Should it have turnbuckles? Puzzled any have a picture ofby Trawler85 - sailmfg
I think it is a Copperhead and not a Sidewinder.by Trawler85 - classifieds
Just wait till you get it on a plane in 15 to 20 mph winds. It is a blast. The Sidewinder was my first boat back in 1971. I had more FUN on that boat than any I have owned. I bought anouther one last year to teach my grandaughter to sail. Enjoy your boat SAIL ON. Kevinby Trawler85 - sailmfg
I sold my copperhead to my nieghbor. the center board was made from 5\8 marine plywood. It is similar to the sidewinder but is shorter and a little wider. I will get some dimentions ASAP. I also have a complete sidewinder rudder but don't know if I will selll. When I got my copperhead it was just the hull, rudder, and centerboard. I used a sidewinder mast, sail and boom on it and worked awesomby Trawler85 - sailmfg
I have a 1970 Sidewinder for sale. The boat is in good condition for its age. It is complete with original centerboard, rudder and mast. The sails are in usable condition. I am asking $500.00 for the boat, will sell with trailer for $600.00 call 419 341 4015.by Trawler85 - classifieds
You can get center board gasket material from APS (Annapolis Performance Sailing) Ask them for a catalog as they have alot of one design stuff. They have a very good staff and can help you out. Kevinby Trawler85 - sailmfg
The way the hatch you have was made was off of a female mold. You apply mold relaase, spray or brush the gelcoat on the inside of the mold. That way you get all of the textures of the hatch. (anti skid ect...) Then you lay up the glass using polyester or epoxy resin. After it cures you remove it from the mold and fit it to the boat. The under side o the hatch has no function other than over hangiby Trawler85 - classifieds
Is there any chance you could send me the hatch to use as a pattern. I would wax it up with mold release and lay glass over it and then seperate the two. Would then have mold to use. Kevinby Trawler85 - classifieds
Hello. I have # 392 and have no paper work for the boat. Do you know what year your boat is. The tag on the boat Reads " Anchor Sailboat, Div. of Molded Fiberglass Body Co. Union City Pa. Class Whistler" . Mine has the wood seats and no hull liner like the newer ones. The cable for the centerboard is broken. Do you have any pictures of how this should be rigged.by Trawler85 - sailmfg
Very nice job. I was hoping to fing an original. This winter i'm going to make a female mold and make a new fiberglass hatch. Thanks very much for the reply and will let how the hatch is coming along if you would like.by Trawler85 - classifieds
