I'm so sorry to read this. I'm sure your wife must feel really bad. But count your blessings to have such a nice wife who wanted to do something special for you. Tom is right: fiberglass repairs are not all that difficult. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, it is at least worth an estimate? You have nothing to lose.by Paul - sailmfg
Go to the control center (link is at top of page), and then "Edit my files" (link is on the left). Here you can upload files. The file size has to be less than 500K (I can increase this if need be). Then, you click the file to get its url (you will see it in the browser address bar) and copy that URL. Then you can refer to the URL in postings. Let me know if you have any probleby Paul - sailmfg
Matt,, Figure 15 here: will show you how the jib line is connected to the jib. There are also some line lengths specified in there. Jib sheets go outside the stays.by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Peck, Welcome to our group. It is a small one, so a response might take a while. You have a really special find! Lucky you. Are there two wooden interior supporting poles inside the cabin? (Maybe with your deck it was not needed??). Make sure the drain system is in place. Two tubes underneath the cockpit that connect into a T to a single tube that runs out the back. I'd sure like a piby Paul - sailmfg
I have seen quite a few people who could not join under the new rules. I ask them in the sticky thread at the top of this forum to contact me but they don't. I don't think new people to this forum see that posting and so they do not know what to do, or how to do it, and cannot get registered. As a result, the level of activity on this board has gone down. Well, I removed the restriction for meby Paul - sailmfg
Nice name! I enjoyed reading what you wrote. Enjoy your boat. I have yet to find someone who owned one of these who was not pleased.by Paul - sailmfg
Take a piece of rubber hose 9" long with inside diameter of about 1" and put it over the ends of the fork. See this newsletter (page 11 near the end) for more info:by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Marcus, I have not seen requests for parts other than centerboards and rudders. If a sidewinder turtles, the centerboard falls out the top of the slot and sinks the the bottom of the lake. I'm not sure the price someone would be willing to pay for those parts. There really is not much of a market. It sounds like you have the hard to find parts. There are some posts in the forums here aboby Paul - sailmfg

Hi Russell, You are local to me. I live in Arvada. If I can help.....by Paul - sailmfg
hmmm.... do you have a spell checker doing strange things or did you really intend to write that?by Paul - sailmfg
Here are the photos George wanted to share with all of us:by Paul - sailmfg
How exciting! George, this is really great. If you contact me using the contact form on the main website we can exchange emails and I can get those photos posted.by Paul - sailmfg
While you have it all apart, take lots of pictures Dale. Let's get this documented. I'll post them in the MFG19 section of the site. I'm still thinking about the other mystery hole. My brain must be getting cobwebs as I get older.by Paul - sailmfg
I seem to remember it being hole #2, and I don't remember a bolt being in there. I also seem to remember that the line somehow fed into the wood from the side (top?) through an internal slot or hole drilled into in the edge of the wood, and the knot that was tied and pressed into this hole anchored the line into the rudder. Do you see any holes on the edge? Mystery hole #1 also looks veryby Paul - sailmfg
The rudder is two piece. I cannot remember the exact routing of the line, but it eventually goes into a hole in the bottom piece of the rudder. The line is a hold down to keep the rudder from pivoting up while sailing. If you take the rudder apart, you will see a small hole about 1/2" in diameter on the bottom part. A knot at the end of the line goes in here.from that spot, you should beby Paul - sailmfg

Wow, Joe. Sounds great. I'm glad you are having such fun. This really is a great boat. Thanks for the map of your sailing routs. That is really neat.by Paul - sailmfg
Great story there, Joe! All that hard work has paid off. Now relax and enjoy your summer! Thanks for posting so much on the website. It is preserved for others to follow.by Paul - sailmfg
I have a new set of MFG 19 cusions, professionally made from the original patterns. They are maroon and white stripped fabric on top, maroon vinyl on sides and bottom. I can send pictures if desired. I have not set a price. They cost me about $925 to have made and have never been used. I'll consider any offer that is reasonably close to this.by Paul - classifieds
It warms my heart to see what you are doing to restore your boat. (Same for you, Joe. Sorry that I never said it).by Paul - sailmfg
Thanks, Joe. The software is going to be updated very soon (this weekend, perhaps?) and then I can try to install that module.by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Folks, I have noticed some spam lately and a lot of attempts by automated robots to join the forum. Joe just pointed out that we had a bad attack. Thanks for reporting that, Joe. If this keeps up I will have to implement some other method for new people to request access to the forum. Please have patience while we work through this. Thanks.by Paul - sailmfg
Please keep on rambling, Bill! I like your ideas.by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Mike, I understand. It is not easy and requires strength. You can't "step" the mast on the Sidewinder because you can't hook up the shrouds beforehand, pin the base of the mast in place and then walk (or step) it upright like you can on other boats. The only solution is to hold it upright and insert it into the hole. The shrouds have to be hooked up after the mast is in place.by Paul - sailmfg
I think this is a deficiency in the forum software I use for my website. I am looking to find a means to do this. I think I found an approach, but I need to read a bit more about it before I put it into play. Give me a few days to work on this.by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Joe, This is great information. Thanks for posting the photos. You have metal corners! Later on MFG changed them to plastic, so hang onto those!by Paul - sailmfg
Hi Joe, Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found us. I'm not expert enough to give you this kind of advice, but hopefully others can. There have been folks in here who have done marvelous work to fix problems like yours. #327! A nice old one. I'm not sure about this wood. Can you attach a picture? When you post, you can "attach a file" (at least that should work, I've never triedby Paul - sailmfg
I had these custom made last year from the original patterns. Maroon vinyl bottom and sides with white and maroon striped fabric on top. I can send pictures. I paid $1100 for them. I'll take any reasonable offer.by Paul - classifieds
