I just repaired mine! The mechanism was in good shape, but the gasket was dry. I made a new gasket by cutting a bushing horizontally in half. With a little sanding, it fit. Hope this helps. John Maynardby jmaynard - sailmfg
Bob, I can photo my extension if you would like, but it would be very easy to mfg. yourself. The extension is nothing more than alluminium tubing either 1/2" or 3/4" (guessing). The length is several inches shorter than the main tiller handle. It is simply attached with nuts and bolts. The end of the extension has a rubber cap that can be found most anywhere.by jmaynard - sailmfg
Hi Bob, I have now figured out a solution using alluminum angle, cut to fit. This seems to work and I am now back on the water w/my boat. I am so excited and am now teaching my children the fun that I enjoyed as a teen. I am planning on posting my photos for the benefit of others and would love to see your photos as well just to see what the origional looks like. Thank you for replying and loby jmaynard - sailmfg
Hello, I am trying to repair my '74 Copperhead (See my post: Copperhead - Getting it going again - Need Help) and was checking on your progress. I am looking for either the Gudgeon (bracket on stern of boat to attach the rudder) part or photo and measurements if you can help. Thank you very much! Hi folks! I'm glad to discover this site/forum! I have a 1974 Copperhead that was purchased new and have enjoyed for many years and has been out of service since the late 80's. I'm trying to get it back in the water for myself and children's enjoyment and have one problem to overcome. I am missing the Gudgeon which has separated from the stern of the boat and dissappeared, therefore I cannotby jmaynard - sailmfg
