MFG 15 Parts And Information needed
April 22, 2011 12:42AM
I am restoring a MFG15 Bandit and need the following:
1) I do not have the stays. What length of the side stays from the tang to the Stay Adjustor as shown in Figure 5 of the manual that is on this website. What size Stay Adjustor is recommended?

2) Rudder shape dimensions such as length, thickness at several points on the height, etc. I plan to build one of wood or fiberglass, depending on the rudder's shape complexity. Hopefully, it is an "airfoil", not a flat surface.

3) Spinnaker dimensions and shape/depth etc. What weight and type material is recommended for it?

4) I am not sure I can find a jib furling mechanism. Anyone have one for sale?

5) What is a good sail source, one that knows the Bandit?

Thanks for your help, Skeet

Hey Skeet,
Check the Sidewinder manuals for the roller furling jib mechanism. I was surprised that all the parts can be bought at your local home improvement store. For the most part it's just two pieces of conduit, one inside the other. The jib is cut a bit different where it attachs though.
