Does anyone know where I can buy the rubber gasket for a the self bailer? APS (http://www.apsltd.com/c-6562-bailers-thru-hull-and-manual.aspx) only sells them as part of a $25 kit and I have already bought 1 $25 gasket and am hoping someone knows of a better source. Thanks, benby bvmandell - sailmfg
--- boat has been sold The boat is in great condition and is ready to sail. The hull is excellent and the sails are very good. Photos of the boat, centerboard and rudder can be seen at the following link: poconos.craigslist.org/boa/1389023693.html This is a great boat for a beginner or someone who wants to go fast. The beginner can learn using just the main sail and when they are readyby bvmandell - classifieds
The metal part is 64" and each end has a plastic hook that is about an inch in length for a total of 66". The pole also has a plastic cleat of sorts in the middle.by bvmandell - sailmfg
I recently bought a sidewinder and the previous owner had some body work done on the lower (white) portion of the hull. I've posted a picture here: www.vishwho.me/whites-small.jpg I would prefer to make the white colors match and I was wondering what options people knew of. I figure one option would be to paint it. Or, I was thinking there could be a polish or something that car detailers usby bvmandell - sailmfg
Hi Jack, I recently purchased my second Sidewinder and it came with a spinnaker sail and poles I won't be using. In one corner the sail gotten eaten by a mouse and it will need to be patched but the rest of the sail is in great condition. Let me know if you are interested (570-784-8962). I heard back from the machine shop. They estimate 3.5 hours of work at $48 / hr plus $125 for the aluminum plus a few other small things for a total of $294.14. If we ordered two, it would be $462.74 ($231 each). This was quoted under the assumption that the bevel goes around all all three sides that sit in the water. This seems expensive to me, not sure what other folks think.by bvmandell - sailmfg
So, I went to the machine shop today and they will be getting me a quote shortly. One question they had which I wasn't sure from the photos are which edges are beveled and are they beveled on both sides? From the photo, it looks like all three edges (the two long edges and the rounded edge) that are in the water are beveled and I would guess that both sides of the centerboard are beveled. Also, hby bvmandell - sailmfg
It would be great if you could get a price. I am going to a machine shop today to get a price based on the image on the website. However, having an original will likely produce a better copy. We can compare prices then and decide. I don't know what to do about the white knobs. Should I just have two holes drilled? If so, do you what a good hole size is? I looked at midatlanticrubber.com but hby bvmandell - sailmfg
This may sound silly, but does one need a centerboard gasket? I'm not sure what a centerboard gasket is (new owner) but I think it is something that goes between the hull and the centerboard to keep out water. Will the boat sink without one? I found this link: (the link above is dead) The picture doesn't really mean much to me but I wanted to find out before my boat ended up at the botby bvmandell - sailmfg
Hello all, I'm excited to say that I recently bought my first sailboat and it is a Sidewinder (HIN 709). It needs a little work and was hoping someone might be able to answer a few questions. First, the previous owner of the boat had the luff pole setup so that the line to unfurl the jib (and the plastic line guard) was at the top near the mast. Based on the rigging instructions, it seemsby bvmandell - sailmfg
Hi Paul, Could you send me the diagrams for the centerboard as well? It seems I will need to get one made. Does anyone know the general cost of having one made from specs? I have the rudder so I can show the maker the material as such. Any other advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Benby bvmandell - sailmfg
I would like to find a centerboard. Does any one have one they are willing to sell? Thanks, Benby bvmandell - classifieds
