Whip Rigging ?

Confused about the rigging my WHIP. Does the jib wire work as the Forestay for the mast ??
I’ve seen some pictures that seem to show a separate forestay as well as the jib stay/halyard working to hold the mast up. And other pictures that only show the Jib wire being used to hold the mast forward. Please advise if you know the answer.

This is way late to reply to your post, but yes, the jib wire is essentially the forestay.

I briefly owned Whip # 33 a couple of years ago. It's a great boat.
